Now that Chief Forager Longclaw has retired, the mayor’s office of the underground mouse burrow is desperately searching for a worthy successor. Only a few brave mice have applied in response to the ad in the Mouse Gazette, for according to mouse tradition, these 2 to 4 candidates must now prove their luck, courage, and wits by venturing into the surrounding countryside to grab the 8 treats most beloved by mice—but this is not quite so easy, for the cat prowls the neighboring forest, the falcon circles the skies in the countryside, and then there are the foxes and the unwelcoming humans with their brooms and dogs; but fortunately, the beaver is also on the move with his raft on the canal and offers 8 useful items in exchange for twigs and water lilies. Therefore, it might be wise not to embark

on this adventure completely unprepared; but regardless of how each mouse chooses to proceed, whichever candidate is the first to bring all 8 treats back to the mouse burrow wins the competition and is named the new Chief Forager at a legendary feast with all the mouse citizens.
